The current location of the "Hai'an Street Art Museum" is Hai'an Road, which was once a bustling area known as the "Old Five Channels." The canal transportation facilitated its role as a major transit hub during the prosperity of the old capital, serving as a logistics center for both domestic and international trade in Taiwan. Its vibrancy was comparable to today's East District of Taipei. However, with the advancement of transportation, the importance of canals diminished, and the flourishing scenes along the Old Five Channels gradually faded.
It's hard to imagine the original appearance of the "Hai'an Street Art Museum" was due to the Tainan Underground Street Project being delayed for ten years, causing the collapse and damage of houses along the road. Later, through the planning of the Tainan City Government, the current "Art Street" scenery was established.
Upon entering the "Hai'an Street Art Museum," one can immediately feel a strong artistic atmosphere. Among the many street installations are several highly creative works, such as the "Yongchuan Palanquin" studio painting, which is a main wall art on Shennong Street. The first floor of the painting features a photo of a master craftsman with a palanquin, while the second floor depicts the hard work of apprentices burning the midnight oil. Another piece, "Please Do It Like Me," shows people from various professions striking the same pose. Finally, at the corner of Hai'an Road and Heping Street, the two-story-high wall art titled "Art of the Wall" includes blue and white 2D blueprint trajectories, enhanced with 3D installations like tables, chairs, and a clock hanging on the wall, making it undoubtedly the most eye-catching art spot on Hai'an Road.
Currently, due to the success of the "Hai'an Street Art Museum," many businesses have started to settle here, especially open-air coffee bars that have sprung up like mushrooms after rain. Every evening, crowds gather to chat and drink coffee with friends, making it a new trend in Tainan's culture and a key nighttime attraction for tourists visiting the city.
