Located next to Anping Fort, Yanping Street, also known as Anping Old Street, is the first street built by the Dutch over 300 years ago in Anping. It is often referred to as "Taiwan's First Street." On both sides of the street, you'll find a variety of unique local shops, including traditional candy stores (kan-zai-tien), old-style toy and snack stalls, and century-old preserved fruit stores offering a mix of sweet, sour, and salty flavors
In recent years, the popularity of the old street has helped boost the development of nearby roads such as Gubao Street, Pingsheng Road, Xiaozhong Street, Anbei Road, and Yunhe Road, gradually forming what is now known as the Anping Shopping District.
Anping Old Street is one of the must-visit attractions in Tainan. In addition to the historical significance of Anping Fort, the old street next to it is a favorite among tourists. Visitors can admire the charming vintage architecture, explore the many shops along the street, and discover nostalgic snacks and toys that are hard to find elsewhere today.
