Introduction

The "Sunset Excursion Branch" is located behind the Salt God White Sand Beach Park, covering an area of about 100 pings. It was originally established as the Anping Branch of the Taiwan Governor-General’s Monopoly Bureau in Tainan, later renamed to "Taiwan Governor-General’s Monopoly Bureau Tainan Branch Anping Sub-office" due to organizational simplifications. During the peak of the salt industry, this place was an important base. To the east was the salt refining experimental factory; the north housed storage rooms, a vacuum salt workshop, and tall chimneys; the west was the salt warehouse. After the recovery of Taiwan, the office was converted into a dormitory to accommodate the families of the Salt Administration Bureau staff. Currently operated by a local enterprise, it has been renamed "Sunset Excursion Branch." This place is deeply tied to the history of salt, with the Japanese pronunciation of salt being "SIO." The geographical location is also ideal for watching the sunset, making it a popular spot for tourists in the afternoon. The name "Excursion Branch" refers to an administrative function, similar to what a branch office serves in modern times, and "Sunset Excursion Branch" creatively combines tourism value with historical significance, leaving a deep impression on visitors. The architecture is a fusion of Japanese and Western styles, which remains visually pleasing even today. The simple yet delicate appearance, coupled with the surrounding trees and scenery, creates a pleasant environment. The interior exhibition space is dedicated to salt, showcasing unique salt sculptures and special salts from around the world. Additionally, creative souvenirs, such as birthday salt, are available. The birthday salt symbolizes purification, warding off evil, and protection, incorporating the colors of all 365 days, allowing everyone to find their own birthday salt here. This is a meaningful and commemorative product.
