The Anping Tree House is located next to the side entrance of Ximen Elementary School. Built at the end of the 19th century, the building was originally the office and warehouse of the Japanese-owned Takashimaya Company during the Japanese colonial era. After Taiwan's retrocession, the salt production industry in Anping began to decline, and the site was abandoned. Following the abandonment of the warehouse, the original old banyan tree took root and began to dominate the structure, with its roots becoming the beams of the warehouse. The tree's dense branches and leaves covered the roof, forming the warehouse's tiles. After half a century, a unique symbiotic landscape formed between the house and the old tree. In the early days, due to the heavy shade of the old banyan tree, the abandoned tree house was considered a haunted house by locals, and no one dared to approach it. It wasn't until 2004 that the tree house was included in the Anping Harbor National Historic Scenic Area by government authorities. After overall planning, a skywalk was added to allow visitors to walk through the tree house, completely overturning traditional perceptions and transforming it into a popular tourist attraction in Anping. Additionally, the tree house is a great place for practicing photography. The light filters through the gaps in the tree, creating an ever-changing play of light and shadow. As a result, many visitors from outside the area come here to take outdoor photos. Whether you're a beginner photographer or just someone who loves to capture moments, this place offers endless fun in capturing the beauty of light and shadow.
