Located at the Port of Anping in Tainan, the lighthouse gradually lost its navigational function due to shifting sandbanks, which caused it to be positioned too far from the coastline. In addition, most of its light was blocked by coastal windbreak forests, making it difficult for ships at sea to spot. As a result, it ceased operation in March 1960.
