As part of the Tainan City Government’s "Anping Harbor National Historical Scenery Park" project launched in 2003, the building was designated for restoration as a traditional residence. The initiative aimed to build consensus and recognition for cultural heritage preservation. The restoration was completed and officially opened on March 30, 2006. Originally managed by Ximen Elementary School, the Local Cultural Hall officially came under the jurisdiction of the Anping District Office on March 1, 2007. Through historical exhibitions and cultural and creative activities, it aims to preserve and promote the spirit of the region and extend the unique culture of Tainan’s Anping area.
The architecture of the Anping Local Cultural Hall follows the traditional Japanese style, retaining its unique features. The simple and clean elements reveal layers of light and shadow, interweaving with flowing breezes to create a serene and aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. The traditional Japanese structure emphasizes harmony and wholeness, presenting a space full of Zen purity that resonates with many visitors. This location is great for family trips and can be conveniently paired with nearby attractions such as Anping Fort and the Anping Tree House.
