In the Zhongshihua Taiwan Chemical Dormitory Area of Annan District, a woman named Lin has taken in dozens of stray cats. The old Japanese-style houses and the docile cats have drawn comparisons to the Cat Village in Houtong, Taipei, earning it the nickname "Tainan Cat Village." This has attracted many cat lovers to visit. The person taking care of these stray cats, "A E" – Lin Su'e – lives in the Taiwan Chemical Dormitory Area. The area, which has about seventy years of history, features old Japanese-style houses. Many of the houses are now abandoned, with only about twenty families still living there, and the vacant houses have become a shelter for stray cats. The Taiwan Chemical Anshun Factory Dormitory Area is one of the last remaining groups of Japanese wooden dormitory buildings in Tainan's Annan District, and it has been around for 70 years. Local and historical preservation groups are actively advocating for its preservation, with plans to transform it into the first industrial pollution and ecology museum in Taiwan. Once a thriving area, the dormitory complex was well-planned with amenities such as a school, swimming pool, basketball court, cinema, welfare store, and clinic, making it a luxurious residential area at the time.
