Tainan Theological Seminary, abbreviated as "Nan Shen," is affiliated with the Presbyterian Church in Taiwan. Its origins can be traced back to 1876, when Pastor Barker founded the Tainan Theological School at Tainan University. The school experienced several closures due to wars. In 1903, the current campus was established, and in 1948, the school was renamed Tainan Theological Seminary, a name it still holds today.
