Introduction

Anxi Elementary School is located beside the Baixin Highway in Houbi Township, with convenient transportation and a rich cultural atmosphere. Surrounded on three sides by rice fields, it is a lush and serene environment. Since its establishment, the school has been diligent in its efforts to advance school affairs, enrich teaching, strengthen life education, and beautify the campus environment, constantly seeking innovation and improvement. The school was founded on April 20, 1914, in the ancestral temple of the Lin family in Anxi, with 84 students divided into two classes. In 1916, it became a branch of the Bianzai Kou (Baihe) Public School. On April 20, 1921, it became independent with five classes. In 1931, with the reform of the education system, the school was renamed “Anxi Public School.” The number of classes increased to nine. On March 1, 1947, the school was renamed "Houbi Township Anxi Elementary School." In August 1968, when the nine-year compulsory education system was implemented, the school was renamed “Tainan County Anxi Elementary School.” In December 2010, after the merger of counties and cities, the school’s name changed to "Tainan City Houbi District Anxi Elementary School" and has remained so until today. Before Taiwan's recovery in 1945, the school was primarily staffed by Japanese teachers, with fewer local Taiwanese teachers. The school district was extensive, with alumni coming from areas such as Tuku, Wushulin, Changduoshu, Shangxiaqie, Xingaodong, and Beishiliao. At its peak, the school had 24 classes and about 1,200 students.
