Driving south on Highway 1 towards Tainan City, after passing the Houbi Overpass, you'll quickly reach Houbi Railway Station. This station is the northernmost station on the Taiwan Railway Western Line in Tainan City and is a level 3 station. Most people using this station are commuting students and office workers, and to truly appreciate the beauty of the station, passengers usually need to take an electric multiple unit (EMU) or express train. The station is a traditional wooden structure, established during the Japanese colonial period in Meiji 35 (1902). In the aftermath of the 1935 Kaohsiung Earthquake, the station building tilted. In 1941 (Showa 16), it was rebuilt in its current form, featuring fish-scale style siding and a stone foundation. It is one of the few remaining Japanese-style wooden train stations in Taiwan.
