Zengwen Reservoir is located in the Liutengtang Gorge at the border of Chiayi County and Tainan City in Taiwan. Its catchment area lies in the upstream Dapu River of the Zengwen River in Dapu Township, Chiayi County, while the reservoir management office is situated in Nanxi District, Tainan City. It is the largest reservoir and lake in Taiwan, with a full water level area of 17.14 square kilometers. The reservoir was primarily built to provide irrigation water for the Chianan area and also serves purposes such as power generation, flood control, and tourism, making it a multi-purpose reservoir. Construction began in 1967 and was completed in 1973.
