Xiude Worship Pavilion Square & Yiyinxiang(First Bank Alley)

Introduction

This site was formerly the location of Xiude Zen Temple, originally constructed in 1919 during the Taishō era of Japanese rule. The temple was later relocated to a new site on Zhishui Road, leaving only the worship pavilion at the original location. The Tainan City Government subsequently redeveloped and restored the area into what is now known as Xiude Worship Pavilion Plaza.

Yiyinxiang(First Bank Alley) - In the early days, there were many shops engaged in the production of gold paper here. From time to time, you can see gold foil flying everywhere in the alley, so it is also called Gold and Silver Alley. Because it is located behind the historical monument First Bank, it was named Yiyin Alley during the Japanese colonial era. The modern geographical name is Wumiao Road Lane 10.

According to the oral account of the local elders living in Yiyin Alley , the alley has a history of more than 150 years, and it still retains the old bungalows built nearly 90 years ago.
