Introduction
The Yeh Shyr-Tau Literary Memorial Museum, located at the intersection of Youai Street and Lane 5, Zhongzheng Road, is a place where the lush green grounds are highlighted by two Nanyang fir trees, each about three stories tall. Planted in 1951, the trees stand about three meters apart, both bending to the right in a mutual embrace, which has become a beloved local story, often referred to as the "Couple Trees."
Built in 1925 during the Japanese colonial period, the Yeh Shyr-Tau Literary Memorial Museum was originally the Tainan Forestry Affairs Office. The building faces south with a rectangular floor plan and is two stories high. The structure is primarily made of reinforced concrete and brick, with the base treated with washed gravel, red brick walls, and a roof divided into three parts. The first floor features flat-arched windows, while the second floor has round-arched windows. The museum is located next to the Tainan City Library, adding a literary atmosphere to the area.
Between the Yeh Shyr-Tau Literary Memorial Museum and the Tainan City Library, there is a green path surrounded by large trees. Visitors can enjoy the rare tranquility amidst the urban environment, with benches along the path offering a peaceful spot to relax and unwind. This serene environment makes it an ideal place to rest and enjoy nature. Just outside the library, a left turn will lead you to Chongqing Temple, and directly opposite the museum is the Tainan Confucius Temple. With many historical landmarks nearby, the museum is a perfect stop for those exploring the ancient monuments of Tainan.
