Introduction
Koxinga Ancestral Shrine was established by Zheng Jing to honor his father, Koxinga. It is the first family shrine in Taiwan dedicated to the Zheng family. Following the fall of the Ming dynasty, the Zheng family was expelled to China, and local residents, fearing repercussions, refrained from worshiping Koxinga. During this period, the shrine was occupied by two officials. It wasn't until the Qianlong era that the Zheng descendants were able to redeem and renovate the shrine, renaming it "The Cheng's Ancestral Shrine." During the Japanese occupation, parts of the shrine's front area were demolished due to administrative zoning. In the fifth year of the Shōwa era, the Zheng family raised funds for another renovation.
