Jingfu Temple primarily enshrines the Earth God (Tudi Gong) and is the only Earth God temple in Tainan designated as a historic monument. Established during the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, it was constructed through community funding. The temple is situated at the intersection of Renhe Street and Haian Road, forming a T-shaped junction. Haian Road was once the channel of Fotougang, one of the five major ports in Tainan. Fotougang was formed by the convergence of three tributaries, and Jingfu Temple is located at this confluence, hence it is also known as the Earth God Temple of Fotougang. To this day, the Fotougang pier remains a revered site for worshipping the Earth God.
Upon approaching Jingfu Temple, visitors first encounter an incense burner at the entrance, flanked by two stone tablets. These tablets detail the temple's renovations and stipulate that vendor stalls in front of the temple must not exceed the temple's height; violators would be reported to authorities for punishment. Above, on either side of the entrance, hang the "Evening Drum" and "Morning Bell," serving as subtle reminders. As the temple was converted from a residential building, it lacks ornate rooftop decorations and has a modest layout. Nevertheless, it enjoys a thriving worship scene, with many visitors coming to pray, reflecting the temple's spiritual efficacy.
