The Miaoshou Temple was established around the 20th year of the Qianlong reign. It is located to the south of Anping Fort and was one of the landing sites for mainland immigrants to Taiwan. It is currently listed as a third-level historical monument. The temple is dedicated to Baosheng Dadi, and it also houses the statues of the three Wangye (Kings) of Zhu, Li, and Su, as well as the Earth God (Tudi Gong). According to local elders, the Miaoshou Temple is located in a significant dragon's lair. One year, when a well was dug behind the temple, the water that flowed out was as red as blood, which frightened people. After guidance from the deities, it was discovered that they had accidentally dug into the "dragon's eye," and this became a famous local legend. Additionally, Miaoshou Temple is also known as the "Children's Temple." Around the 1755 (Qianlong year of Yi Hai), when immigrants first arrived, the temple courtyard was very spacious, and children often gathered there to play. The Chinese immigrants, seeing the lively scene, gave it this name. Nearby attractions include Yanping Old Street, Haishan Pavilion, Kaitai Matsu Temple, Wang Jishi Western-style Building, and Anping Fort, making it a perfect addition to your travel itinerary! The area has beautiful scenery and excellent feng shui, making it an ideal place for people who love Taiwanese temples or wish to pray for blessings and peace for the year ahead.
